Meredith suspect appears in court

A man suspected of involvement in the murder of exchange student Meredith Kercher has appeared in court in Germany.
Rudy Hermann Guede, 20, was arrested on Tuesday for travelling without a ticket on a train in the western German city of Mainz.
He was brought before a court on Wednesday, although the result of the hearing was not immediately known, prosecutor's spokesman Karl-Rudolf Winkler said.
Guede told the German court he was not involved in Miss Kercher's death, but would not fight his extradition, Mr Winkler said later.
"He explained that he is innocent and had nothing to do with the crime," Mr Winkler said, adding that the judge at the hearing would pass the statement on to the Italian authorities.
Prosecutors now have to have the extradition formally authorised. Mr Winkler said Guede would be sent to Italy within about a week.
One of the three original suspects, Congolese bar owner Diya "Patrick" Lumumba, was released due to lack of evidence. He was arrested on November 6 in Perugia along with Miss Kercher's American flatmate Amanda Knox, 20 and her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 23.
Miss Kercher was found with her throat cut in the picturesque central Italian town of Perugia on November 2.
Knox and Sollecito remain in custody, suspected of sexually assaulting and killing the Leeds University exchange student from Coulsdon, Surrey. Both deny any involvement in her death.
